When Red Stone’s founder Trevor Hood turned 16, his grandfather (aka “Papa”) gave him a 1995 Jeep Wrangler. His grandad’s act of generosity was more than a birthday present; it was the beginning of a legacy—this was the Jeep Trevor had grown up in, taking the inaugural ride in the backseat when his grandfather purchased it 15 years before.
Trevor gained most of his experience in automotive work by repairing and tinkering with his Jeep, which he named Ruby. His fascination with fabrication and customization grew out of his love for it and the sweat equity he put into making it his own. He was constantly researching new methods, reading forums online, and learning about what others had done. So naturally, anytime something needed a tune-up or broke, he took it as an opportunity to build it better and stronger. Since then, Trevor has worked on multiple models of Jeeps, trucks, and cars, enhancing them so they’re just a little bit better—a little more their own—every time they leave his shop.
After years of tinkering, researching, and welding, Trevor has realized that the possibilities are pretty much endless when it comes to customizing metalwork. Maybe Trevor’s granddad didn’t intend for his brand-new Jeep to kickstart his grandson’s business, but that’s what it did. Papa opened a door that helped Trevor discover his passion, and now Trevor gets to use Red Stone Fabrication to help others bring their own visions to life.
We think Papa would be pretty proud.
